Sew Your Own Basket: Create Something New With Cotton Rope
I have sewn hundreds of these baskets and so many people have asked “How do you make these?!” that I’ve finally made a class and included all my tips and tricks to help you make a cute and functional basket
In this class you will learn to use your sewing machine to sew something totally different than fabric. These baskets are made from cotton rope and I’ll teach you the basics steps and also how to embellish them with fabric and pompoms, how to change the size and shape, how to add handles, and I even touch on dyeing the rope to create your own colors. Join me in class and make a basket today!

This course includes 45 minutes of video instruction that includes the pros and cons of using a variety or cotton rope and cording - from macrame rope to clothesline. I share how to determine the perfect stitch on your sewing machine for the rope you have and then walk you through the steps of sewing, from making a flat base for the basket to gently curving the sides to create a functional basket. I demonstrate several ways to finish the end of the basket to add decorative flairs and as a bonus, this course also includes instructions on changing the shape of the basket and adding handles.
By the end of this class you will know how to sew a cute, new basket to use in any number of ways. Organize your desk, hold art supplies, contain kids’ toys, use as a fruit basket, give as a gift, or make a bunch of baskets with different sizes and shapes and use them for everything!
